Beauty Essentials: IVs, Supplements & Topicals

Who else is overwhelmed by the beauty industry? What to buy, what to consume, what nutrients are best? We’ve definitely been there, and through trial and error, we’ve selected the following must-haves to be your most glowing, beautiful self for the upcoming event/holiday/wedding season!

Let’s talk about what goes inside our bodies that can beautify us, first.

  • Vitamin B for hair, skin, and nail growth is an essential (B-complex is great!)
  • Vitamin C enhances our ability to produce collagen, often associated with youthful skin
  • Vitamin B7, also known as biotin, is in the Vitamin B family and supports healthy hair and skin membranes
  • Antioxidants help us glow from within - think glutathione, resveratrol, etc.
  • Hydration is key for skin that is hydrated, which is actually different from being moisturized - did we confuse you? We’ll cover this soon!

Just know that our Beauty Boost enhances skin radiance, collagen production, hair growth, energy levels, hydration and antioxidant levels. The glutathione booster is a great addition to the Beauty Boost, and helps many glow for their important events (weddings, formal gatherings, photoshoots, holiday parties, etc.).

Now, what’s the difference between dehydrated and dry skin? Short version: “dehydrated” skin means that there’s a lack of water within the layers of the skin. To combat this, make sure you’re drinking quality water with natural salt and lime for absorption if needed, and enough of it! On the contrary, skin that needs moisture is essentially lacking oil, which most people classify as “dry skin.” Dry skin is mostly self-inflicted (using the wrong products or too many acids without properly locking in the hydration with an occlusive moisturizer - AKA - moisturization).

This leads to topical products - what should you layer on your face, and in what order?

PREP

  1. AM + PM: Essence/toner - restores skin’s natural pH levels and adds hydration for the next steps

TREAT

  1. AM: Vitamin C Serum - brightens and lightens dark spots, increases collagen production
  2. PM: Chemical Exfoliant Serum (AHAs/BHAs) alternating with Retinol (Vitamin A) - increases skin-cell turnover and resurfacing for a glowing complexion
  3. AM + PM: Niacinamide serum - improves tone, texture and reduces the appearance of dark spots over time

MOISTURIZE

  1. AM: SPF 25 if remaining indoors with PA+++
  2. PM: Rich, occlusive moisturizer

LOCK IT ALL IN

  1. AM: lightweight facial oil (yes, even for oily skin types)
  2. PM: lightweight facial oil (yes, even before bed, and even for oily skin types)

Like we alluded to earlier...the beauty industry can be overwhelming, and it takes more than just topical products to give us that “lit from within” look. Proper nutrients, antioxidants, vitamins, and hydration are crucial --- without these key ingredients, investing in beauty/skincare is essentially throwing money out the window.
